"Recommended Coaching Literature"

Hunt, James M. and Weintraub, Joseph R., (2002) The Coaching Manager: Developing Top Talent in Business. Thousand Oaks, California. Sage Publications, Inc.
[Provides an excellent account of the coaching role of managers in the context of learning and developing people (as opposed to a pure performance/results driven orientation). While some of the tools and processes are different than the ones embedded in the Adler program, there is great alignment in the underlying approach and philosophy.]

Gallwey, T.W. (2000).  The Inner Game of Work. New York: Random House.

Whitmore, J. (Any edition.) Coaching for Performance.  London: Nicholas Brealey.
[Gallwey and Whitmore's books both address the key constructs of awareness, choice and self trust in enhancing performance, learning, and fulfillment in the context of work. Familiarity with either of these will give you better insight into a core set of constructs underlying the Adler Workplace Coaching Program.]

Additional "easy" readings available online

Clutterbuck, D. 2003. "Creating a coaching culture."
[Provides a perspective on the notion of a coaching culture.]

Hart, E. Wayne. (2003) "Developing a Coaching Culture".  Centre for Creative Leadership.
[Provides a perspective on the notion of a "coaching culture".]

Hunt, J.M. & Weintraub, J.  "How Coaching Can Enhance Your Brand As A Manager."
[Provides a handy summary of the key points from their book, The Coaching Manager (see above).]

Maynard, Deborah. 2004. "The Manager as Coach".
[A short, but clear, account of Anthony Grant' perspective on the manager as coach. Grant is a leading figure in coaching psychology.]
